A PLAY A DAY KEEPS THE CULTURE BLUES AWAY
Ma-Yi Prepares For Groundbreaking 365 Days/365 Plays August 10 & 11

Ma-Yi Theater Company presents week 39 of Suzan-Lori Park’s groundbreaking epic, 365 Days/365 Plays on Friday and Saturday, August 10 and 11 at the Zipper Factory Theater on 37th Street.

Led by directors Nelson Eusebio, Herbert Go and Ralph B. Peña, Ma-Yi Theater celebrates the work of Ms. Parks and the spirit of 365 Days/365 Plays by inviting community members to share in the process of art-making. Riffing on the principle of “radical inclusion,” a proposal to make arts accessible to anyone who wants to participate, more than 50 performers come together to speak up, sing, shake and make trouble in Ma-Yi’s portion of the 365 Plays project. Throughout the short pieces, various languages are spoken, giving English and non-English speaking audiences a chance to take part.

365 Days/365 Plays began in November 2002 when Suzan-Lori Parks committed to writing a play a day for the next 365 days. With encouragement from Bonnie Metzger, the 365 Days/365 Plays National Festival was born. During the Festival, over 52 theater companies across the country will present the plays simultaneously, creating the largest collaboration in the history of American theater. Don't miss your chance to see history in the making. Performances are free, but tickets are required. To reserve your FREE TICKETS, visit www.ma-yitheatre.org.
